OSL series: Book Launch & Artist Talk

Wednesday 26 October, 18.00-19.00, at OSL contemporary

OSL contemporary is delighted to announce the launch of Thorbjørn Sørensen's new artist book. To mark the occasion there will be a conversation between Sørensen and Tone Hansen, editor of the publication. The talk will be held in Norwegian.

From his studies to the present day, the search for painterly possibilities has been Thorbjørn Sørensen’s ongoing motivation. Working in the tension between naturalistic watercolours and figurative works over to fully abstract paintings, his motives are often inspired by day-to-day life and overlooked daily scenes in nature and objects around us. Sørensen's oeuvre is distinctly relaxed and playful, and at the same time, his works hold solid and subtle references to the history of painting.

Tone Hansen is the newly appointed director at the Munch Museum in Norway. Since 2011 she has held the position as director at the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in Bærum. In the period 2016 – 2019, she was the council leader for the Arts Council Norway. She is educated as an artist from the National Academy of The Arts and the Oslo Academy of Fine Arts. Hansen has curated several large group and solo exhibitions with international and Norwegian artists, as well as organized seminars, events and publications.

The book is published by Teknisk Industri and Uten Tittel, with texts by Maaretta Jaukkuri and Simen K. Nielsen. The design is by Henrik Haugan. The publication is kindly supported by the Arts Council Norway, Bergesenstiftelsen and the Norwegian Visual Artists Fund.
